WHY CMTS...
Cummins Memorial Theological Seminary (CMTS) is an Anglican, Biblical, and Evangelical Educational institution located in the heart of Summerville, SC. CMTS is a state-approved seminary through the Department of Higher Education for Veteran Training and has been established for over 140 years. The Seminary is historically, biblically, and theologically strong. Cummins Seminary has been a critical institution in the life of the Diocese of the Southeast of the Reformed Episcopal Church and the LowCountry of South Carolina area.
Cummins Memorial Theological Seminary endeavors to provide theological and educational opportunities that enable ministers and lay persons to enhance their religious training by taking courses designed to meet their needs in life and work of the church.
The Seminary was founded by Peter F. Stevens, the first Bishop of the Missionary Jurisdiction of the South in the Reformed Episcopal Church. He was a Citadel graduate and Confederate Army Colonel. CMTS has become an ecumenical training ground for people of all denominations, races and backgrounds.
